“Canadian Cannibal” Convicted Of Killing Exchange Student

Former porn star convicted of first-degree murder

Luke Rocco Magnota, a former porn actor known as the “Canadian Cannibal,” was convicted of first-degree murder yesterday for the 2012 killing of a Concordia University exchange student, Jun Lin. Magnota killed Lin and sent parts of his body to several political offices in Ottawa and Vancouver.

On May 24, 2012, the last day Lin was seen alive, he entered Magnota’s apartment and never re-emerged. The very next day, May 23, a video was posted online, “1Lunatic 1Icepick,” which allegedly depicted the killing of Lin, and the dismembering of his body. A week later, after a manhunt turned up Lin’s body stuffed in a suitcase, Magnota was arrested.

Despite multiple psychiatrists arguing that Magnota was schizophrenic, prosecutors were successfully able to prove that his actions were premeditated, and not the result of a random, unforeseen psychotic break.
