Originally hacked in March, it wasn’t until England’s Channel 4 News reported on the matter that popular porno social media site AdultFriendFinder was identified as the target.

AdultFriendFinder matches people based on similar sexual interests, revealing private information such as what kind of sexual encounter a user wants to what they like in the bedroom. In addition to disclosing peoples’ sexual preferences, users’ full names, zip codes, passwords, email addresses and much more were leaked as a result of the hacking.

Well Known hacker, Andrew Aurenheimer, identified government employees affected by the hack including “a Washington police academy commander, an FAA employee, a California state tax worker and a naval intelligence officer who supposedly tried to cheat on his wife,” according to CNN. However, the hacker behind this incident calls himself ROR[RG] and attempted to blackmail AdultFriendFinder, threatening to expose the private information unless paid $100,000. Parent company, FriendFinder Networks Inc. said,

“We cannot speculate further about this issue, but rest assured, we pledge to take the appropriate steps needed to protect our customers if they are affected.”

FriendFinder Networks Inc. is working closely with authorities and cyber forensics to investigate the extent of the breach.
