DeMarcus Cousins‘ relationship with Sacramento Kings head coach George Karl is well-documented as a turbulent affair. Prior to the season, there were rumors that due to a falling out between Karl and Cousins, the All-Star center would be exploring options with other teams, including the nearby Los Angeles Lakers, but that never materialized, luckily for Sacramento. Cousins is currently having a career year for the Kings, averaging 27 points and 12 rebounds per game. However, it appears that his issues with Karl has reared its ugly head once again.
The Kings announced today that they were suspending their superstar center for one game, following a verbal altercation with George Karl. In the following video clip, you can see Cousins completely going off on Karl, so much so that Rajon Rondo had to step in between the two of them for the shouting to cease. Imagine that. Rajon Rondo stepping in to break up a fight between a player and a coach.

Any time you have a team underperforming as badly as the Kings are, tension will be high. The Kings have been healthy, and their two best players, DMC and Rajon Rondo, are having career years. It’s not unreasonable to think Cousins has taken notice of this, and is increasingly becoming frustrated with his coaching staff, especially Karl, who Cousins subliminally called a snake on Twitter last summer. The official release is below. The next time you can catch Cousins in action is Sunday at home against the Jazz, as he’ll be forced to miss Friday’s game, when the Orlando Magic are in town.
