Perhaps SXSW is slated for the same time every year solely so the acronym “March Madness” can hold another meaning, as it really is the best way to describe the annual festival. But for music, technology, film and food truck lovers, this isn’t the post-season—this marks a new beginning laying the groundwork for what is going to unfold culturally as 2016 presses onward.
Regardless of whether you’re attending or not this year, a contagious case of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is in the air and every single one of us will fall victim on one level or another. It’s a marathon race that requires making sacrifices, scrapping your original game plan at times and overall keeping an open mind to follow where the music leads. You won’t be steered wrong, as SXSW traditionally holds an eclectic formula incorporating crowd-favorite performers and unsigned/independent acts to “add to your radar” and this year is no different.
Let these 15 shows help be your guide but remember, Austin is bursting at the seams and no matter where you end up, there you are. Enjoy it.
