Just when you thought it was okay to have some innocent fun.
Taking advantage of the hype, robbers in O’Fallon, Missouri are utilizing the highly popular Pokemon Go application as a way to lure in their next victim.
The new smartphone game that has been gaining fans at an alarming amount is not even a month old, but it has proven to become highly addictive. With users willing to go to lengths to capture the rarest of Pokemon, a group of teen robbers took note of their highly frequented locations via the geo-caching app. While such users can usually be identified with their heads down glued to their phones looking to capture the next Charizard, the thieves were not prejudiced when it came to their next mark as non-game users were robbed, as well.
Ultimately captured by a police officer early Sunday morning [July 10], the four teens were arrested when found in a black BMW with a handgun. The suspects ranging from 17-18 years of age Shane Michael Baker, Brett W. Miller and Jamine James D. Warner are all being held at a $100,000 cash-only bail. They are all charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
The 16-year-old fourth suspect is in custody under juvenile authorities.
