World Renowned Beatboxer Tom Thum Releases New Track “Ratchet Face”

Tom Thum has been at the top of the beatbox game for over a decade, winning the team battles in the World Beatbox Championships in 2005 with fellow Beatbox Alliance Australian Joel Turner as Attention Deficit Disaudio, earning second place at the 2006 Scribble Jam and showcasing at the World Beatbox Convention. Also a skilled breakdancer / rapper / producer and aerosol artist in his own right, Tom Thum has collaborated with artists from R.A. The Rugged Man on the self titled track ‘Tom Thum’, Rakaa Iriscience of Dilated Peoples, Verbal Kent of Apollo Brown’s Ugly Heroes, to Australian artists including K21, Kings Konekted, Mantra, Purpose, Sampology, Trials and most recently with Australian heavy weight group the Hilltop Hoods.

One of the best vocal percussionists in the world, Australian beatboxer Tom Thum has released the new single Ratchet Face highlighting his amazing vocal range and all round musical creativity. Taken from his exclusive beatbox demo at the 4th Beatbox Battle World Championship last year, the song Ratchet Face culminates his amazing live showcase. The track has now been reworked through a studio version and released, and not only is Tom Thum’s exceptional beatboxing skills on display throughout, he also demonstrates his production talent as well as his emceeing abilities. Long known as a talented rapper himself (rapping under the alias Tommy Illfigga), he gives Ratchet Face a grime-like feeling over a futuristic beat, a musical adventure in itself.

A few months after his viral Berlin showcase, internationally renowned Australian classical composer and conductor Gordon Hamilton teamed with Tom Thum to perform the show “Thum Prints” with the 16-piece Queensland Symphony Orchestra. The unique combination of Gordon Hamilton and Tom Thum resulted in them taking their show internationally to The Philippines, this time teaming with the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

Tom Thum has toured extensively worldwide either as a solo artist, as the lead beatboxer and breakdancer with the self-described hip hop circus that is Tom Tom Crew or as a duo with guitarist & vocalist Jamie MacDowell. The Crate Creeps emcee is just as comfortable ripping mics as he is performing on Broadway, at the Sydney Opera House (his TEDx Talk has amassed 50+ million views) or on Good Morning America, and is building a legacy as one of Australia’s best all-round live performers.
