Golden State Warriors guard, Klay Thompson has been known to light up the scoreboard in recent years. If given space, he can heat up like a microwave, scoring points in bunches.

Thompson is holding true to the Warriors motto, “Strength in numbers.” The deadeye shooter has pledged to donate $1000 for every point he scores during the next three home games. The money will aid relief efforts in Sonoma, Mendocino, Napa, and Lake counties. These areas were significantly affected by recent wildfires which burned through Northern California.

The Warriors organization has already joined a collective effort amongst professional Bay area sports teams to donate $450,000 to relief efforts. Thompson will donate through Redwood Credit Union Community Fund. This fund assures donors that funds go directly to the desired cause and not to administration cost.

Homes lost, residents displaced, the recent North Bay fires have been one of the worst natural disasters in California history, causing a projected billion dollars in damages.

Thompson’s pledge is admirable considering all the controversy surrounding recent relief efforts in other areas affected by natural disasters. Hopefully his giving spirit will become contagious. Fans are encouraged to make donations or start their own campaigns. Donations of all sizes are accepted and appreciated. California needs help.

With the new NBA season in full swing, Thompson already has one season-high 31 point game under his belt whoever is assigned to Klay, better come prepared because he will have an extra incentive to drop rainbow-three pointers.

We will get to see how he responds to his own call to action on Wednesday, October 25, against the Toronto Raptors, Friday, October 27, against the Washington Wizards, and Sunday, October 29, against the Detroit Pistons.
