Louis Vuitton is planning to end all the struggle of keeping track of an expensive LV luggage by creating a luggage tracker. According to Engadget, sources revealed this gadget will be the first-of-its-kind to work internationally. The gadget will be known as the Louis Vuitton Echo, and will be made by a French start-up company called Axible. The gadget will be fitted for ease by operating on a fully charged battery for six months and will be easily chargeable via a USB cable.
The tracker will work by implementing it into a pocket dedicated to the Echo on the Louis Vuitton luggage. Once up in the air, the Echo will automatically switch to airplane mode. Users can later track their luggage through the company’s LV Pass smartphone app when it is paired with the tracker, and be able to see if their luggage has been opened at any point while being checked or loaded.
Currently, the Echo only works in certain major international airports that are covered by the mobile geo-location service Sigfox. The list of airports will include high population cities in Japan, US, Taiwan, Australia, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Oman, New Zealand and Iran. The price point for the Echo has not been revealed but from past reference of Louis Vuitton’s items it may be an expensive item.
The Echo’s release date is to be determined but maybe this gadget will inspire other luggage brands to follow its lead.
