On Wednesday Jan. 31 the former NFL quarterback, Colin Kaepernick announced that he successfully completed his million-dollar pledge. With this pledge he agrees to donate $1 million of his salary to communities in need. Kaepernick began this pledge back in September 2016, a month after his protests on the field against racism and police brutality. Colin confirmed the news via Twitter in a short video.

When it came down to the wire, Colin asked a number of high-profile athletes and artist to donate $10,000 to a charity of their choice, which he then agreed to match dollar for dollar in what he called the #10for10 challenge. Usher was the last to join in on the good cause. On Wednesday Mr. Raymond pledged $10,000 to Helping Oppressed Mothers Endure Inc. (or HOME), which is a Georgia- based advocacy organization for single mothers who are emerging from divorce or domestic violence. According to CNN, Jesse Williams, Nick Cannon and Steph Curry were among the many stars who joined Kaepernick in his #10for10 challenge.
“With or without the NFL’s platform, I will continue to work for the people, because my platform is the people,” Colin said in a December interview.
