Fans of the late 1990s drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be thrilled to know the series is receiving a reboot. The former WB and UPN staple is currently in redevelopment at 20th Century Fox for a relaunch.
The showrunner and creator from the first run for the series, Joss Whedon, will be back in the fold for the reboot as the executive producer and will be joined by Monica-Owusu-Breen who will also be executive producer along with writer and showrunner. The show is set to bring events and things of modern days to the series.
“Like our world, it will be richly diverse, and like the original, some aspects of the series could be seen as metaphors for issues facing us all today,” the producers said to Deadline
Other details for the reboot state the lead of the show is planned to be Black but an actual name and other insight as to what the new Buffy will look like are slim.
