Last week LeBron James took Instagram to share his Nike commercial about how he came from humble beginnings and how he wants to create more success stories that do not include struggling.

“17 years ago Nike took a chance on a kid from Akron. And 17 years later this has given me the ability to provide opportunities for my 1400 kids in Akron so that one day NOTHING is left to chance. They will KNOW that a kid from Akron is something special!!! #ThekidfromAKRON”

He begins by saying that most athletes have the same story about making it despite all the odds stacked against them.

“We always hear about an athlete humble beginnings. How they emerged from poverty or tragedy to beat the odds”

He continues by saying that people are attracted to stories that inspire you to keep going no matter what your situation.

“They are supposed to be the stories of determination that capture the American dream. They are supposed to be stories that let you know these people are special.”

He finishes by saying that it would be amazing if we had more success stories that didn’t involve struggling.

“But you know what would be really special? If there were no more humble beginnings.”

In July 2018 Lebron James opened up the “I Promise” School, which is designed to help at-risk children with a curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
