Legacy LDM blends elements of Hip-Hop and RnB to deliver his unique sound, which also comes in 3 different languages: English, Spanish, and French. The Ghanaian-born, Spanish raised artist was hard at work all of last year, releasing a string of impressive singles including “Honest,” “Night Cries,” “A Ride” and “Dollar Bills.”
To then close out his astounding 2019, he releases another record titled “Solo.” Now, to kick off 2020, he returns with the accompanying visuals of “Solo” directed by 047 Films.
His versatility at just 19-years-old has already laid out the groundwork for his success. We sat down with LDM to talk about his music career journey and his different influences.
1. What’s your name, where are you from, and how old are you?
My name is salomon gerard Kpodekon , i was born in Benin a French country but grew up in Ghana , stayed 11 years in Ghana so I always tell people I am from Ghana . I am 19 years old ,
2. What were the challenges you had when growing up?
My Dad and Mom has to divorce since then life became hard , started experiencing the hardness when I was 10 and my sister was 18 , we have to move from house to house , stay with some uncles o brothers because my parents was facing financial problems, we stayed with people who mistreated us , but as for me I was always calm , my education was very law , has I had to be changing countries everytime , everytime I move to a different country I have challenges to learn because I will have to learn their language before understanding everything that was thought.
3. When did you start music and what made you want to do it? I was just 6 when my sister had a small mobile phone we used to listen to music together, back then we only had to listen to the radio , and we always listen a song English song , we had no idea what was the meaning of the song but we love it since then I fall in love with music , but the guy that stole my heart , is Micheal Jackson . I started listening to him , I also dance, actually I know how to dance the dangerous dance very well , when he died , i got very sad , and when I saw Chris Brown performance I fell in love with his voice and that is when I found the type of music I can write and I can sing RnB , my sister had this love for hip hop she always send me songs to listen , i was also working on some hip hop skills , all this was at the age of 13 . I always tell people that my sister made me love music has she had a music book full of lyrics .
4. What are you doing now? Student, working professional? Right now I am in Spain Madrid with my father another challenge for me I had to learn the language to be able to live here , right now I am still schooling and also had some part time job , I came to Spain 2 years ago
5. Did anybody have anything negative to say about your music or career path? In Ghana the was no help , my talent was pure and very clear to see just that nobody cares so you have to fight for yourself , so till now just haven’t heard anything strange about the way I sing , negative for me will be not helping me push my music . I will call that negativity too
6. What are you future plans in terms of music? My future plan are to move my music to where it’s will get most listen to the US , because in Spain English music is only accepted from someone who is well known. There are so many opportunities in the US I have so much hope that pushing my music there could help , I am not stopping until I make it , Legacy Ldm is my artist name Ldm stands for love doing music.
7. What is unique about you and your music? The Unique thing about my music is I am guy of all genre , I can write anything on any beat.
8. What shaped your music? My hardwork , my way of thinking differently . I had to punish my body to be able to shape my music , my studio is far from my house . Putting a bit of pressure on people helping me , when I see that they are slow.
9. What inspired you to write music? Well, listening to Chris Brown made me want to start writing my own songs.
10. What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about? I am also a beast in IT ,technology
