Ever since 1992 with the beating of Rodney King in Los Angeles, being caught red-handed on video hasn’t always resulted in criminal convictions for police officers and 2020 in Minneapolis is no different.
Hennepin County District Attorney Mike Freeman has announced via a press conference that his office does not have enough evidence to criminally charge the four Minneapolis Police officers in the death of 46-year-old George Floyd. The death, which was caught on video after Officer Derek Chauvin pinned Floyd to the ground with his knee for eight minutes, ultimately killing him.
Floyd’s death has sparked national outrage, even prompting protests which have resulted in looting, a burned police precinct, and millions of dollars in damage.
