In the last two decades of Hip Hop, Texas has been relatively identified by its unique brand of Hip Hop exposed to the world by legendary recording artists like Lil Flip, UGK, Geto Boys and DJ Screw. In the lone star, there are countless stories of emerging individuals achieving greatness through unconventional means and continues to produce greatness til this day. Today, we unfold the story of a fast-rising star known as J-Mado. He has established a star power that follows in the tradition and his story, like legends before him, is like no other.
Born and raised in Pharr, Texas, J-Mado was raised in a great family and small community that is career-oriented. Like an assembly line, the city’s structure was successfully sound, graduate high school, graduate college and begin a career. Throughout his upbringing, J-Mado has always displayed a passion for music. And it is that same passion that broke the mold and set J-Mado on a path to greatness through desire, determination and creativity. J-Mado never wanted to be normal or follow protocol and it was that determination, along with music, that allowed him to discover an alternate route to success.
“Music has always played a big factor in my life growing up,” He explains. “It was my escape from my reality.” Early on in his musical journey, J-Mado met his go-to producer, X-Lati, and the two formed hit-making chemistry through friendship, growth, and tutelage.
“I remember always finding myself at a young age wanting to be a singer but never really felt like it was something I could be taken seriously for. If anything, I was more concerned of what people would say or think of my music. I had to really teach myself to block out the noise of others in what they may of thought of my music. There was confidence needed to be grown inside me as an artist and I really found that when I linked up with X-Lati my Producer from Vocal Line Studios.”
Together, J-Mado and X-Lati designed a custom sound that eventually created J-Mado’s defining breakout, “Perdoname.” A catchy sing-a-long track that came to fruition during a dark time in J-Mado’s life. The song’s popularity laid down a foundation for J-Mado that would eventually birth the rising star’s commercially acknowledged track, “Gold Yard.” J-Mado remembers, “At this point in time it made me feel like I do have a place here in the music industry. The amazing thing is, that he and I have been making music together since day one and we have made it this far in our journey together. I really see him as my mentor and someone who really taught me everything, I needed to learn in order to develop the sound that he knew that he could produce out of me as an artist.”

News of J-Mado and X-Lati music traveled quickly. And as the music began to take off, so did the requests to collaborate from big-name acts. Among the big names requests was legendary West Coast recording artist, The Game. He enlisted J-Mado and X-Lati undeniable creativity for the new song, titled, “The Way You Move,” off Game’s latest mixtape. “We’re super excited about the feature and more than anything with the music video that is about to drop as well,” J-Mado explains. “I can honestly say that anything is possible in this world when you’re always willing to learn by the people who stand by you. I can honestly say that we are on that right path and that J-Mado is an artist to look out for in the coming year.”
Seizing the moment. The new collaboration and song will also be featured on J-Mado’s forthcoming project called Still I Rise. A project that will display J-Mado’s songwriting and vocal abilities and X-Lati’s production at its peak. J-Mado express, “Through his producing and through my talent we have been able to produce new songs every month. In doing so we are in competition within ourselves to produce top quality music that people can relate too.”
