Aim for The Sky: How Rapper Ranko Fly Is Reaching New Heights

Ranko, also known as Ranko Fly, is an artist from Toronto’s west end metro housing. A past full of challenges has failed to hold down this budding artist. The devastating but all too common reality of being raised in a single mother home is a part of Ranko’s story. However, this did not keep him from growing up in a musical household that led to rapping in high school talent shows.

In 2015, Ranko was able to professionally record for the first time at Smokeshop Studio, which capped off a comeback from a tough stretch, included spending time in jail and his mother passing from cancer. In a personal interview, Ranko revealed that what brought him through this time was “realizing that I have a talent that I need to show the world.”  This talent is evident in Ranko’s accomplishments that include traveling across the world to perform, opening for Casanova, and getting in the studio with Busta Rhymes.

The trials and tribulations that Ranko has faced have added to the message one can hear behind his music and see in his grind.  He explains, “I want [fans] to have that good music feeling, that relatable feeling, that feeling that anyone can make it with hard work and dedication.  I want them to see where I came from and how I worked my way to success”.

Keeping up with his momentum, Ranko recently dropped a single entitled “Barz Ova Bagdad” and is set to release the visual for it soon.  More is sure to come from this artist who describes his day to day saying, “Every day I would be on the streets making end meet, promoting my music, traveling to new cities and countries, writing, recording, shooting new visuals, and always keeping busy.”
