Kevin Garnett is set to be immortalized in Boston Celtics history. The superstar power forward will become the 24th player in franchise history to have his jersey retired.
According to ESPN, KG will have his #5 added to the rafters of TD Garden in Boston on March 13 at 3:30 pm ET when the Celtics take on Luke Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
KG played six seasons in Boston and won the NBA title in 2008 with the squad. He was a part of the Celtics super team, led by a big 3 of Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen.
“I’m honored and thankful to have my number retired with the Celtics,” Garnett said in a previous statement. “I will always have immense respect and appreciation for ownership, Danny Ainge, Doc Rivers, my past teammates and Celtic Nation!”
