Ramon “Swift” Sloan entered the film industry as an independent director and producer less than five years ago, but in that short period of time, he has quickly built up his catalog and made a name for himself in the independent film world. By way of his own production studio, Swift Motion Pictures, which he founded and acts as CEO of, Sloan has released two feature-length films and the critically acclaimed documentary The Rise and Fall of Coo Coo Cal. Without taking his foot off the gas pedal, the Milwaukee multi-talent is actively looking for the next step to propel himself and Swift Motion Pictures to the next level.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sloan has always had a knack for storytelling throughout his life. He began his career as an author but made the switch to directing and producing in 2017. Adapting some of his own books to create his Circumstances film series, Sloan learned a lot about what it would take to succeed in this industry after filming his first movie. “Shooting them has taught me so much about overcoming obstacles,” Sloan states. The Circumstances trilogy has been a long working project of Sloan’s. The first two films were the first projects released through Swift Motion Pictures, and the third film was recently wrapped and is now in post-production.
The motivating spirit behind Swift Motion Pictures is a desire to create a platform for independent artists to share their entertaining, educating, and relatable content with the world. “As an independent production house,” Sloan remarks, “our goal is to provide content with small budgets while maintaining high-quality material.” Not only is Swift creating a platform for others in the industry, but he is also actively reaching out to educate others with his Swift Motion Pictures Movie Mastery Course. The course aims to teach hopeful film students what it takes to make it in the industry and never give up on their dreams.
As someone who has forged his own path as an independent filmmaker, Sloan uses his own failures and successes to advise the next generation. “You must possess the ability to dance between the raindrops with a smile,” Sloan shares. “You can’t win without first failing.” And through that failure, Ramon “Swift” Sloan has begun to build what he aims to be the next film powerhouse in Swift Motion Pictures.
