Passionate and thriving music artists such as Niccolò Paluani often tap into their deepest emotions to be able to create remarkable songs that have the ability to awaken the senses of their audiences. His, however, is inspired by his story of survival as a passenger of the ship Costa Concordia that sank in January 2012 off Isola del Giglio, Tuscany. The horrendous experience that claimed 32 lives had put the artist in a constant state of gratitude for having been given a second chance to live his life to the fullest. As a result, his songs are a celebration of his artistry and the hope he carries within him.
“I transformed the struggles I had in my life, and they became my biggest power,” Niccolò shared. “I know how to deal with problems and not be stuck in stressful situations. Sometimes I have to bite the bullet, but I know it’s just a matter of time. There is always a solution to any obstacle that I’ll find in front of me. It’s always a matter of how to deal with them.”
Niccolò is from Padova, Italy, and has been living in the United States for the past four years. After completing his degree in the conservatory in his home city, he decided to pursue further education at Berklee College of Music in Boston. While in Berklee, Niccolò became one of the most productive students, as seen in his collaborations with Tristan Simone and Eduardo Omondi. It was also during his time in Berklee that he created his own tribute band called The Snarky Puppy Ensemble. Niccolò also invited popular music composer Michael League to Boston for a masterclass and played alongside him together with his band at Cafe 939. His band also made it to the final of the AES Recording Competition with an original arrangement.
When the pandemic started in 2020, Niccolò was fresh out of college and was exploring the direction of composing his own original songs. Deciding to be a solo artist, he moved to Los Angeles and did some impressive collaborations with Luigi Meroni and Nicolas Farmakalidis, known for their work with The Weeknd, Lasso, Julia Michaels, and Pat Metheny. They mostly worked on productions for several artists, movies, and some TV series on Netflix.
On top of his steady projects, Niccolò managed to release two original singles that became an instant hit on iTunes in Italy. His song “The Forest” features his good friend Alessandro Alessandroni on piano, who has worked with big names such as Pink, Bobby Brown, Christina Aguilera, and Natalie Furtado. Alessandro’s work on his single added great value to it, and music fans have nothing but love for “The Forest.” Niccolò is currently working closely with his manager Gianluca Pizzorno for his upcoming releases and future projects.
If anything, the Costa Concordia incident only made Niccolò a more determined music artist who is ready to brave life’s biggest challenges to becoming successful. Aspiring for a Grammy Award is something that many dream of, but very few are willing to put in the hard work needed to make it happen. Niccolò is more than willing to do what it takes to reach his dream. In the next couple of years, when circumstances allow it, he is planning to go on tour, connect with music fans around the world, and inspire them with his remarkable story.
