Musician D’usé Saida Shares Her Journey to Success as an Artist

Born in the countryside in Massachusetts, Hanna Dus, or D’usé Saida as she is popularly known, is a trailblazing artist taking over the industry. She is a highly talented artist making great moves in the music scene. Since releasing her first music video, “Madame Ponsardin,” D’usé Saida has grown to work with numerous great names such as LaChaleur, Music Man Ty, who worked with Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Lei Keli, and Left Brain, who previously produced for the group Odd Future. Her innate musical skills have seen her receive a writing placement overseas with the rapper Lil Tjay and Italian singer Serena Rigacci.

D’usé Saida has been fascinated with music from a young age. At 5, she was already playing many musical instruments such as the guitar, piano, and violin while also signing.

“I’ve been in ‘select chorus’ since 2nd grade, and I always did every extra singing class I could throughout my schooling years. All those classes and choruses gave me a great foundation and so much time to practice in a place I felt comfortable because I was quite shy singing in front of my family,” explains D’usé Saida.

After moving to Brooklyn, New York, in 2017, she adopted the stage name D’usé Saida. Her music has been influenced by great names such as Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, Lauren Hill, Ari Lennox, Gwen Stefani, and MIA. D’usé Saida grew up listening to a broad spectrum and variety of genres and musicians, which is evident in her music.

Though starting a new life in a new city was a major challenge, D’usé Saida highlights the COVID pandemic as her most significant challenge. It greatly affected her as an artist, but she is already making great strides to overcome it, just like the rest of the world. An innovative and dedicated artist, D’usé Saida says that she leveraged her free time during the lockdown period to sharpen her skills. She also found it a stressful period that significantly weighed on her mental health, but she came out of it a more refined artist.

A highly optimistic individual, D’usé Saida is confident that anyone can make even their wildest dreams come true. All you need is to identify what works for you and go after it. More significantly, you need to understand that you can always count on yourself and never underestimate what one person is capable of doing. D’usé Saida also warns that you shouldn’t be fooled into thinking that you can do it alone. Instead, endeavor to work with others and, if possible, build a team and foundation of people who you trust and care about your craft.

A highly ambitious woman, D’usé Saida believes that she will be the female version of Frank Ocean or Kendrick in the way that she releases her music. She admires their high-quality music and exceptional work ethic, which she incorporates into her brand.

“I want to create timeless projects, timeless singles, timeless music like some of my favorites (Erykah, Amy, and MIA). I want to do bigger and better things once I’m in a place to, for my family, women, children, animals, and people everywhere,” adds D’usé Saida.
