Our Daily Bread Ministries’ Release ‘Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom’ EP Led by Lecrae and Sho Baraka

Lecrae and author Sho Baraka lead the soundtrack for the documentary Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom, which was presented by Our Daily Bread Ministries’ VOICES Collection.

The musical masterpiece, which features 13 cogent tracks and was compiled by Rasool Berry, Director of Partnerships & Content Development at Our Daily Bread Ministries, parallels the reality and revelation of how the recently recognized federal holiday Juneteenth came to be.

The singles “Where Do We Go” and “Black As Heaven (feat. Mag44),” both produced by Sho Baraka, as well as “Black Reconstruction,” a posse cut with Lecrae & Propaganda (@prophiphop), are all included on the album. S.O., Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson, Carvena, Marqus Clae, Chill Vibes, Reflect, Mark Evan Diaz, Lucius B. Hoskins, J.Dot, Derek Minor, Swoope, theBeatbreaker, and Rivertown provide more guest features and production.

“The first celebration of what has become known as Juneteenth took place at a church in Galveston, and I discovered that people who were closest to it understood their emancipation on spiritual terms,” said Berry. “To really understand that story, we need to grasp their perspective on their own emancipation. The church is where the story starts, but that’s not where the faith component ends. The role of the Black church in establishing communities was really vital, I discovered.”
