Kid Ink starts off the new year with some major moves, or should we say by moving to the majors. The California-bred hip-hop artist made the announcement this morning that he and his Tha Alumni Music Group imprint have signed to RCA Records.
Having made his presence heavily known in 2012 with his independent debut LP, UP & Away, and his well-received Rocketshipshawty mixtape, the tatted-up MC explains the move, stating “We achieved so much last year independently but we just felt it was time to team up with a major in 2013 to take it to the next level and RCA is as excited as we are about the vision and possibilities.” On their deal with the newly minted Kid Ink, RCA’s SVP of A&R J. Grand states, “We see him not just as an emerging domestic star but as someone whose music and entrepreneurship is already developing a global presence.”
In accordance with the big news, Kid Ink dropped his first official single, “Bad Ass” featuring Meek Mill and Wale. Hit play to check out the addictive celebratory tune produced by Devin Cruise. Sounds like this joint will help contribute to more than a few strippers’ 401K plans.
Congrats to Kid Ink and the whole AMG!
