“Boy from the hood, but got the White House clearance.”

Jay-Z and Beyonce found themselves in the midst of controversy after spending their five-year wedding anniversary in Havana, Cuba. Visiting Cuba for any tourist purposes is strictly illegal due to the country being communist.

The controversy started when rumors circulated like wildfire that the U.S. Treasury Department licensed the trip for “cultural purposes.” Jay’s “Open Letter” put more spotlight on his relationship with the POTUS, “‘Obama said “chill, you gonna get me impeached,’ But you don’t need this shit anyway. Chill with me on the beach.”

The White House quickly refuted any claims of being involved in the recent trip to Cuba. Now the President himself has made a statement on the incident. In a recent sit down with TODAY, Obama had the following to say about the power couple and their trip:

“I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip. My understanding is, I think they went through a group that organizes these educational trips down to Cuba. This is not something the White House was involved with. We’ve got better things to do.”
