It’s fair to say that Jaylen Brown, who has been vocal about his exclusion from the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, is perturbed these days. We get it. He’s the 2024 Finals MVP, and not being on that team is kind of crazy, notwithstanding the Nike factor.
Get this: He was recently seen making what some consider controversial comments about Bronny James. Perhaps he was just stating what a lot of people are thinking.
ICYMI, during a courtside conversation with his girlfriend Ksyre Gondrezick and WNBA star Angel Reese in Vegas, Brown seemingly suggested that the new Lakers rookie might not even become a legitimate NBA player. Yikes. Harsh or spot on? Ya’ll decide.
So now Rich Paul has entered the chat. The super agent for both LeBron and Bronny James responded to Brown’s remarks on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday.
Paul downplayed it, saying, “I saw some of the stuff that came out about Jaylen Brown. You can’t take everybody’s opinion and try to turn it against them or think he’s a bad person. No, they have opinions. They can say what they want to say. At least he’s someone who’s actually in the league. There are a lot of experts with no expertise. He’s actually an expert with expertise. So if he has an opinion, he can have that opinion. But I know Jaylen and I know he doesn’t mean that with any malice. He was just having a conversation. It’s just the world we live in today. Why would he think somebody would be videoing him saying anything?”
Now Brown addressed the clip. He didn’t backpedal, but the Boston superstar did express his interest in Bronny’s development as a player, saying he was “looking forward” to seeing James Jr. progress.
Anyway, right or wrong, it seems that only time will settle the debate about Bronny and his eventual fate in the NBA.
