Finally, production for Euphoria season 3 has officially begun, and fans of the hit show are getting their first glimpse of Zendaya’s return as Rue, the lead character in the highly popular series.
The first look went down today (Feb. 10). HBO shared an exclusive first-look image of Zendaya as the troubled teen, reigniting excitement for the upcoming season. The post, shared by Max, captioned: “#Euphoria Season 3 is in production,” marking the start of what promises to be another intense chapter in the lives of the show’s complex characters.

Get this: the announcement comes nearly three years after Euphoria’s second season premiere in January 2022. While the show was quickly renewed for a third season in February of the same year, fans eagerly awaited when production would finally begin. In November 2024, Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, confirmed that filming would kick off in January 2025. “Nothing has changed,” Bloys said at the time. “We are happy. We’re moving ahead. It’s eight episodes.”
Along with Zendaya, Euphoria’s star-studded cast is expected to return, including Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Hunter Schafer, and Maude Apatow. The third season will also continue to navigate the characters’ complicated lives, set against the backdrop of love, loss, and addiction. However, the late Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, tragically passed away in July 2023, and Barbie Ferreira, who portrayed Kat, announced she would not return after season two.
Don’t expect too much information on the series story. While the specifics of season 3 remain under wraps, it is known that creator Sam Levinson has proposed a significant time jump, moving the characters five years into the future. Zendaya, during an appearance on The Awardist podcast in October 2024, confirmed this shift. “I don’t actually know much about what is happening,” she shared. “But I do know that the time jump is happening. And I know it’s important because, I think there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with.” Zendaya added that it will be fascinating to explore how the events of their high school years will shape the characters as they step into adulthood.
Side note: You might now know Drake is an executive producer for Euphoria. That part. The God’s Plan icon has had his hand on Euphoria from the get-go. But we’ll let some of ya’ll try to forget these things.
With production officially underway, fans can look forward to a thrilling third season, and Zendaya’s portrayal of Rue will undoubtedly continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
