Members of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity at Southern University are accused of telling a fabricated story to police after a pledge, Caleb Wilson, died.
According to the WAFB I-Team, pledges were at a warehouse in Baton Rouge, which is where Wilson was punched in the chest, collapsed, and eventually died at an area hospital. The original story said Wilson collapsed at Baton Rouge BREC park.
According to the report, nine pledges were undergoing an unsanctioned ritual when they were to take blows to the chest. When Wilson was hit, he collapsed to the ground and had a seizure.
Wilson was 20 years old and majoring in mechanical engineering. He was also a member of the Human Jukebox band.
After Wilson was taken to the hospital, members of the fraternity allegedly gathered at a location to create the story of Wilson collapsing at the park. Investigation reveals none of the students were at the park.
A formal cause of death is still being investigated.
