We all know Tracy Morgan is funny, and now he’s bringing his talents back to NBC in a brand-new comedy series. The legendary comedian from Brooklyn, NY, is set to star in Crutch, a half-hour show that will debut later this year.
Get this: the series will follow the story of a Harlem widower whose plans for an empty nest are interrupted when his millennial son and free-spirited daughter move back home.
Harlem stand up!!
In a press release, it was revealed that Morgan’s contract allows him to star in future projects as well, making Crutch just the start of his new ventures. The series is slated to premiere in 2025 and will be executive-produced by Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, and Sam Means—fellow 30 Rock veterans.
If you don’t know, Morgan and Fey share a long history. They first worked together on Saturday Night Live, where Morgan was a cast member from 1996 to 2003, and Fey served as both a writer and cast member from 1997 to 2006. They later reunited on 30 Rock, which aired on NBC for seven seasons from 2006 to 2013.
Crutch marks Morgan’s return to the network after his hit show The Last OG, which ran for four seasons from 2018 to 2022.
No stranger to overcoming adversity, Morgan reflected on his gratitude for life during the SNL50: The Red Carpet special. After surviving a severe car accident in June 2014, he expressed, “This is incredible. Just thank the Lord that I’m a part of this, that I survived the accident and I’m alive to be here for this.”
Classy move!
Moreover, in addition to Crutch, Morgan is set to appear in a The Neighborhood spinoff on Paramount, where he’ll play a cousin to Cedric the Entertainer’s character, Calvin Butler. With his exciting new projects on the horizon, Morgan’s fans have plenty to look forward to.
