Wanda and Alex Sykes Join Unrivaled as Investors, Supporting Women’s Basketball League

Unrivaled, the rapidly growing women’s basketball league has announced new investments from comedian, actress, and producer Wanda Sykes and sports business executive Alex Sykes. Their involvement adds to the impressive list of supporters backing the league’s mission to revolutionize women’s sports.

“As longtime and avid women’s basketball fans, we’re thrilled about the opportunity to support Unrivaled and the incredible athletes in the league,” said the Sykes. “Not only are these athletes the best at what they do, but they are leading a real movement across the women’s sports ecosystem, and investing in that movement was important to us.”

Sykes’ investment follows Unrivaled’s successful Series A funding round, which was oversubscribed and closed in December. The league raised over $28 million in Series A funding, bringing the total investment to $35 million, following an additional $7 million raised during its seed round in May 2024.

Unrivaled’s roster of investors now includes high-profile names like Steph Curry, Alex Morgan, Carmelo Anthony, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Coco Gauff, Michael Phelps, and Ashton Kutcher, among others. These investors are helping drive the league’s growth, which aims to elevate women’s basketball on a global scale.

The Sykes’ support highlights their commitment to advancing women’s sports and empowering athletes, shaping the game’s future.
