The ongoing divorce saga between rapper Jeezy and TV personality Jeannie Mai has taken another heated turn. After Jeannie accused her ex-husband of refusing to follow court orders regarding financial obligations and property transfers, Jeezy is now firing back—with legal receipts.
According to In Touch, Jeezy (real name Jay Jenkins) has filed a motion requesting that Jeannie Mai be ordered to pay nearly $20,000 in attorney fees, claiming her accusations were not only baseless but damaging to his reputation and brand.
Jeezy Denies Contempt, Blames “Nefarious Actions”
The rapper, 47, strongly denied Jeannie’s previous claims that he was in contempt of their divorce agreement, particularly around paying her rent and handing over car titles. In his court documents filed on March 14, Jeezy accused Jeannie, 46, of submitting unverifiable lease agreements to secure rent reimbursements—documents he says could not be authenticated.
Jeezy further claims he attempted to obtain verification by issuing a subpoena to Jeannie’s bank, but she opposed the request.
Public Humiliation and Brand Damage
Jeezy’s legal team argues that Jeannie’s actions have gone beyond legal disagreements and crossed into intentional character attacks. He accused her of leaking court filings to the media to “embarrass, humiliate, and disparage” him.
“Although both parties are public figures,” his lawyer wrote, “[Jeezy] has worked aimlessly to resolve this matter as amicably and privately to protect the parties’ minor child.”
The filing goes on to say, “[Jeannie] wants as much money as possible from [Jeezy] to the penny, but on the other hand, wants to destroy [his] ability to earn income by dismantling the public goodwill that [Jeezy] has built for decades.”
Addressing the Car Title and “Act of God”
In addition to the rent dispute, Jeezy addressed the issue of vehicle titles that Jeannie claimed he failed to transfer. He explained that one of the cars—a Bronco—was destroyed when a tree fell on it, an event he called an “act of God.” The vehicle was deemed a total loss, and Jeezy says he’s still working with the insurance company to resolve the matter.
He maintains that this situation proves he is not in willful contempt, as Jeannie has alleged.
Jeezy Seeks Nearly $20,000 in Legal Fees
As a result of what he calls Jeannie’s “frivolous” contempt filing, Jeezy is requesting reimbursement for $19,839.81 in attorney fees—the amount he says he’s had to spend defending himself against her claims.
While the divorce between the former couple has yet to be finalized, this latest development suggests the conflict is far from over. Both parties continue to assert their sides amid what has become a deeply public and emotional legal battle.
As the courtroom drama unfolds, fans and onlookers will be watching closely to see how the court rules—and whether either party will be held responsible for escalating the tension behind the scenes.
