Rep. Crockett Predicts Democrats Will Favor "Safest White Boy" in 2028

Rep. Jasmine Crockett voiced concerns during a SiriusXM town hall, suggesting that the Democratic party might gravitate towards a white male candidate in the 2028 presidential race due to past election outcomes.

Speaking on Urban View’s Clay Cane and Reecie Colbert-hosted program alongside DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta, Crockett addressed the potential hesitation some Democrats might have in supporting a woman or minority for the party’s top nomination.

Crockett stated, “It is this fear that the people within the party, within the primary system, will have about voting for a woman because every time we voted for a woman, we’ve lost. So far. And I think that that’s a natural fear because we just want to win. So there’s a lot of people that are like, you know what? Like, let’s go find the safest white boy we can find. I mean, I’m just saying….”

She further claimed that conversations with donors indicated a leaning towards a candidate who is “not a black person nor a woman,” suggesting that influential donors have already begun aligning themselves. Crockett drew a parallel to the opinions some of these same donors held regarding Joe Biden.

While Kenyatta also participated in the town hall, the focus of this particular discussion centered on Crockett’s perspective on the potential direction of the Democratic party’s future presidential nominations. The conversation highlighted ongoing debates within the party about electability and the factors that might influence candidate selection in upcoming cycles.
