Bill Cosby has broken his silence following the heartbreaking news of Malcolm Jamal Warner’s passing.
Warner, best known for his iconic role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has died at age 54. According to TMZ, the actor tragically drowned while on vacation with his family in Costa Rica. The incident occurred at Playa Cocles, a beach in the Limón province known for its dangerous rip currents. Officials have confirmed the cause of death as asphyxia due to drowning.
A representative for Bill Cosby shared that the actor was devastated upon receiving the call about Warner’s passing. The news reportedly brought back painful memories of losing his own son, Ennis Cosby, who was murdered in a robbery attempt in 1997.
Cosby’s rep, Andrew Wyatt, also spoke about the last time Cosby and Warner connected. Warner had shared his excitement about an upcoming concert in Minneapolis and expressed that he “felt like he was changing the world.” Cosby, deeply moved, stated that Warner “made a lasting impact with his life and career that will continue to change the world.”
Reflecting on Warner’s influence, Cosby added, “Every young man growing up in the projects back in the day wanted to be like Warner and to have a family like the Huxtables.”
The tragic loss of Malcolm Jamal Warner has touched many, and those who worked alongside him are remembering not only the star he was on screen, but the person he was beyond the lights and cameras.
