Tyrese Gibson’s ex-wife, Samantha Lee, has escalated their ongoing legal battle, asking a judge to hold the actor and singer in contempt of court and sentence him to jail for failing to pay her substantial legal bills.
In her latest motion, Samantha claims Tyrese has neglected to pay $492,651.99 in legal fees, owing various law firms, including The Gleklen Law Firm and Bloom Lines Alexander. Both firms are now requesting the judge to incarcerate the “Sweet Lady” singer for 20 days due to this significant debt, which is nearing half a million dollars.
This demand for jail time comes after previous legal skirmishes concerning child support. In April, Samantha informed the court that Tyrese still owed $111,000 in back child support for their 6-year-old daughter, Soraya. Samantha was awarded primary custody of Soraya in 2023, with Tyrese ordered to pay $10,690 per month. He was previously jailed last year until he settled overdue payments.
On April 14, Samantha filed a motion to dismiss Tyrese’s request to lower his monthly child support payments, underscoring the continuing financial disputes between the former couple.
Tyrese and Samantha married in 2017, settling into a $4 million mansion in Atlanta, before their divorce in 2020. In 2023, Samantha reportedly admitted she might have been too hasty in seeking the divorce, having mistakenly believed she would receive a substantial financial payout.
