Kehlani Hits the Road With Nationwide Free ‘Laundry Pop-Up’ for Moms

Kehlani is bringing more than music to the people this summer, blending her artistry, activism, and motherhood into a heartfelt nationwide project for parents in need of a break. On August 9, the Grammy-nominated R&B star will launch “Nini’s Fluff & Fold,” a traveling free laundry service hitting major U.S. cities.

ehThe initiative takes its name from her daughter Adeya’s nickname, “Nini,” and will make stops in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Oakland, Chicago, Charlotte, Washington D.C., and New York City. At each location, mothers and caregivers can drop off laundry at no cost and enjoy refreshments, care packages, and music-inspired merchandise. Kehlani says the mission is simple but deeply intentional, offering parents, especially in underserved communities, a few hours of relief and recognition.

The pop-up tour follows the release of her June single “Folded,” a soulful track layered with warm harmonies and raw lyricism about vulnerability, emotional weight, and renewal. With Nini’s Fluff & Fold, Kehlani is turning her lyrics into lived action, drawing a parallel between restoring clothes and restoring a sense of self. “It’s about care you can feel,” she shared during recent livestreams, describing the events as spaces for community connection. Beyond clean clothes, the gatherings offer conversation, solidarity, and a reminder that self-care can be both accessible and collective.

Kehlani’s dedication to advocacy is nothing new. She has consistently used her voice to support LGBTQ+ rights, mental health awareness, and Black maternal health, centering stories that often go unheard. Since becoming a mother in 2019, that focus has only intensified. “Everything I put out has to reflect that,” she told fans, crediting motherhood with shaping the way she approaches her art and activism.
