Wendy Williams’ Guardianship Upheld Following New Health Evaluation

A request by former talk show host Wendy Williams for a new health evaluation, aimed at ending her court-ordered guardianship, has been denied. According to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE, the latest medical evaluation upholds the guardianship.

The documents reveal that a “significant number of tests (both medical and neuropsychological) and scans (including brain imaging)” were conducted as part of the evaluation. Doctors have since formed an “opinion” about Williams’ neurological condition and diagnosis. While the specific condition is not listed in the paperwork, sources told PEOPLE that Williams has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia, a diagnosis she reportedly first received in 2023.

In the legal documents, an attorney for Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has requested that the court extend the guardianship for an additional three months, with a proposed end date of November 5. The attorney also noted that “complications have arisen” in the case, citing that counsel for certain members of Williams’ family, her ex-husband, and others have indicated their “intention to challenge both the Guardianship itself as well as Ms. Morrissey’s status as Guardian.”

The ruling comes six months after Williams first demanded the new evaluation, signifying an ongoing legal battle over the star’s care and estate.
