Records on the Line at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, set for September 7, could see multiple historic records broken, according to VegasInsider.com.

Lady Gaga could surpass Peter Gabriel’s record for most VMAs won in one night with 12 potential wins, tie Taylor Swift as the most awarded artist in VMA history, and join a select group of artists to win Video of the Year more than once if “Die With A Smile” takes the prize.

Kendrick Lamar, nominated for “Not Like Us,” could become the first male artist to win Video of the Year three times. He is also in contention to break Eminem’s record as the most awarded male artist in VMA history. With 10 nominations this year, Lamar could even tie Gabriel’s record for most wins in one night.

The Weeknd and Lady Gaga could each secure their second Video of the Year trophy, joining a group that includes Beyoncé, Rihanna, Missy Elliott, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem. Meanwhile, Ariana Grande could tie Britney Spears and Swift for the most Best Pop wins, while also extending her record as the most nominated female artist in Video of the Year without a win.

Green Day, Eminem, and Bruno Mars also stand poised to potentially rewrite VMA history.
