Trump Vows Exec Order Making Voter ID Mandatory For Every Ballot

He’s at it again. President Donald Trump announced over the weekend that he plans to sign an executive order requiring every voter in the United States to present identification at the polls.

But they said Kamala Harris was extreme. Ha.

“Voter I.D. Must Be Part of Every Single Vote. NO EXCEPTIONS! I Will Be Doing An Executive Order To That End!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He followed up by saying, “Also, No Mail-In Voting, Except For Those That Are Very Ill, And The Far Away Military.”

Trump has repeatedly questioned the U.S. election process, continuing to insist his 2020 loss to President Joe Biden was due to fraud. He and Republican allies have pushed unproven claims that non-citizens vote in large numbers, even though experts note that such cases are extremely rare and illegal.

For years, Trump has also criticized electronic voting machines, calling for a return to paper ballots and hand counts. Election officials argue that those methods are not only more expensive and time-consuming but also less accurate than machine tabulations.

Earlier in August, Trump said he would also move to eliminate both mail-in ballots and voting machines through executive action before the 2026 midterm elections. Constitutional experts point out that federal elections are run at the state level, making it unclear whether a president can impose such restrictions nationally.

The November 3, 2026, elections will serve as the first major referendum on Trump’s policies since his return to office in January. Democrats are preparing to challenge Republican control of Congress in an attempt to slow or block his agenda.
