On Saturday, September 6, The Soapbox Presents: Stoop Sessions, The Mixtape, The Hip-Hop Edition transformed the stoops and sidewalks of Brooklyn into a live celebration of Hip-Hop culture. Presented by Rock The Bells in honor of its Hip Hop Was Born Here docuseries, now streaming on Paramount+, the event gathered fans and legends for a night that paid tribute to the genre’s birthplace.
The showcase opened with Roxanne Shanté, who freestyled an introduction for the band, setting the tone for an evening rooted in authenticity and history. Salt took the stage with two new songs, including “Chosen,” while also revisiting iconic Salt-N-Pepa classics that energized the crowd. Big Daddy Kane delivered a heartfelt moment by bringing out his son and reflecting on both his Brooklyn roots and the cultural importance of block parties in shaping Hip-Hop.
The lineup also highlighted Crystal Caines, whose dynamic performance drew major applause. Rising voices including JSWISS, Kumbaya, and acclaimed lyricist Rapsody added further layers to the evening, underscoring Hip-Hop’s evolving landscape while honoring its foundation.
For Rock The Bells, the night was an extension of its mission to honor Hip-Hop’s past while pushing the culture forward. By hosting the event in Brooklyn, the brand created an intimate connection between fans, pioneers, and storytellers in the very place where the music was born.
As Hip-Hop continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary, Stoop Sessions stands as a reminder that the culture thrives not just on the global stage but also on the streets, stoops, and communities that built it.
