Michael Rubin, co-founder of Reform Alliance, shared his thoughts on the importance of unity and progress during the organization’s Casino Night and Gala. The star-studded event brought together athletes, artists, business leaders, and advocates in support of criminal justice reform.

“I think in general it’s always important to bring people together. One of the things I don’t like about this world is so much division, so many people fighting about different things,” Rubin said. “What I love doing and everything I do is bringing people together and this is a great example of that.”

The evening also served as a moment of reflection on what Reform has accomplished since launching six years ago. Rubin expressed pride in the coalition’s impact and its continued momentum.

22 bills, 12 states, a pathway for close to 900,000 people who were on probation, and not have to be on probation, parole. We set a goal to reach a million people. We started six years ago and I think we’re pretty close now,” Rubin explained. “We’re gotta set a more ambitious goal, start thinking about jobs. And so, you know, for me, I’m just proud of the work the team is doing and we’re just getting started.”

The Casino Night and Gala not only raised awareness but also reinforced the mission of building stronger futures for system-impacted communities. You can read more about the impact of Casino Night here.
