On January 3, Ice Cube announced the release date for his latest album via his label Lench Mob Records. On Saturday, January 4, The Source Magazine sat down with Cube at a special roundtable, while he and Kevin Hart were promoting their action/comedy “Ride Along” in theaters January 17. The special event titled “Ride Along Xperience” was presented by gaming site Konsole Kingz and Universal Pictures and featured a VIP Gaming Lounge at the SLS Hotel. In the film, Kevin Hart happens to be a pretty talented gamer and Hart even stopped by the lounge to play “Call of Duty” and “NBA 2K14” with bloggers and famous gamers from across the nation.

What inspired you to return to music?

Ice Cube: I never left it. I’m always dropping something. I’m independent, so a lot of stuff goes under the radar, but it’s really all about connecting with Ice Cube fans, and people that still want to hear me get down. “Everythang’s Corrupt” will be out May 2013.

The title of your album represents so many things in entertainment and music. Can you speak about the tone of “Everythang’s Corrupt”?

Ice Cube: You know there’s a song on there called “Dominate The Week,” which is basically what they do to the people in the system, “They put the sheep to sleep and then they dominate the week.” That’s one tone…it’s a metaphor.

Can you update us on “Friday 4”?

Ice Cube: “Friday” is in development hell over at New Line…New Line and Time Warner got to get their sh*t together, they got to realize people want this move, they got to cut the check, they just had a little regime change over there. Hopefully, they will come to their senses.

Stay tuned for our interviews with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube about their new film “Ride Along” out January 17.
