As it happens, he was a good kid

The above is a pretty emotional video clip that’s surfaced today, of a bond hearing with an incredible encounter. The defendant, Arthur Booth, was arrested on several felony charges, including burglary, and, at the conclusion of this hearing, would be granted bail at $43,000. However, the story here happens long before that.

Shortly before the decision is handed down, the judge presiding over Booth’s case, Judge Mindy Glazer, alerted Booth that she had a question for him.

Did you attend Nautilus Middle school?

Booth immediately breaks down, first in somewhat of an awestruck, nervous chuckle, then into devastated tears once the gravity of what’s happening set in. Glazer goes on to elaborate on what her experience in middle school with Booth was like, and it was a positive one.

I always wondered what happened to you, sir. This was the nicest kid in middle school,” Glazer says. “He was the best kid in middle school. I used to play football with him. And look what has happened. I’m so sorry to see you there.

Before moving on to the next order of business, Glazer made sure to give Booth her well wishes, in hopes that he can turn his life around. It’s truly insane how their paths have crossed, and the above clip is a testament to the fact that the only thing that’s constant in life is change.
