Just a little over one week ago, I had the opportunity to attend HuffPost Live’s weekly #FreestyleFridays session where MCs spit live in front of an audience. The difference here is that each session is broadcasted live via Huffpost’s periscope, giving viewers a chance to witness talent off the cuff and completely live. During my visit, which was hosted and curated by Huffpost’s Jacques Morel, Harlem upstart MC Semi The Gawd showcased some of his lyrical dexterity, freestyling completely off the dome with little to no prior preparation. To make matters all the more interesting, background instrumentation was provided the very talent beatboxer known as Grey Matter. Meshing these two talents together gave those in attendance, as well as watching on periscope a chance to witness Hip-Hop in its rawest form. Check out the video clip and photos below.
