MLB: David Price Signs 7-Year $217 Million Contract With Boston Red Sox

Yet again, it seems like the good folks over at Major League Baseball are just printing money. According to the Boston Globe, free agent pitcher David Price just inked a 7-year $217 Million dollar contract with the Boston Red Sox. The amount is the highest ever given to a pitcher, surpassing Clayton Kershaw‘s deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers by $2 Million.

The franchise was in desperate need for some talent when it comes to the mound, having landed at last place in the AL East with a mediocre line up. Dave Dombrowski was hired by the Red Sox as as president of baseball operations and is clearly being very aggressive when it comes to landing big names.

It leads one to wonder, were the Sox willing to part ways with so much money just so the New York Yankees don’t get a hold of him? It will be interesting to see how things play out next season.
