According to TMZ.com, St. Louis rap icon Nelly was arrested at 7 am this morning on charges of second degree rape.
According to law enforcement officials, the woman alleges she was raped on the rapper’s tour bus and names Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, specifically as the one who sexually assaulted her.
Nelly was on tour with Florida Georgia Line in Ridgefield, Washington where the alleged rape occurred at 3:45 am.
Nelly’ lawyer gave this statement:
“Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation. Our initial investigation, clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to pursue all all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”
At the time of this writing, Nelly is still in custody.
