Wells assimilated the movie with the 2007 novel of the same name by Angie Thomas. The film stars Amandla Stenberg and focuses on the aftermath of a police-involved shooting of an unarmed black man.
Wells previously wrote the scripts for the films The Truth About Cats and Dogs, George of the Jungle, A Dog’s Purpose and Under the Tuscan Sun. Wells’ animated film Over The Moon, is currently in production at Netflix.
