It’s funny when you get text messages that end in “there’s your story.” Today all the talk is about the possible filling of the vacant Def Jam President slot. The position has not been occupied since Jay-Z left in 2007.
Now today we are receiving reports that Joie Manda will leave his position as Warner Bros Records Urban Music EVP and head across town to Def Jam. A few months ago Irv Gotti voiced his opinion on why he would be worthy of fulfilling the role, that talk was not heard.
Manda’s journey could be traced back to his start at Asylum Records back in 2004, as head of A&R, before obtaining the EVP/GM position. Manda could take a good amount of credit for the success streak of MMG in conjunction with Warner.
It’s a new day…. Look out for an exclusive interview with Manda tomorrow morning.
