The Nike Air Yeezy II is not just the talk of New York. It’s worldwide. An intimate gathering of sneaker-heads, bloggers and Hip Hop enthusiasts chopped it up over drinks and burgers in Cape Town, South Africa as Kanye West’s limited edition fashion statement was “unveiled” as dessert.

The much anticipated global launch of these limited edition kicks has seen sneaker enthusiasts from around the world queuing to get their hands on the hottest property out right now.

Fans in South Africa had to register to an online RSVP queuing system that went live yesterday, Friday June 8, from where successful RSVP entrants were notified. Nike South Africa used Twitter and the official SA hashtag #AIRYEEZY2ZA via the @NSWZA Twitter-handle to create awareness of this official launch. Successful entrants were given a number, which makes them one step closer to getting their hands on the Yeezy II’s. And best believe it isn’t easy landing a pair!

Today, Saturday June 9, hopefuls with their tickets in hand will stand in line like the rest of the sneaker world and hope they make the cut. An unknown, yet very limited amount of sneakers will be available to South Africans who have travelled across the country to cop a pair at the only store where it’s available; Shelflife, Cape Town.

Whether your fix is the Black/Solar Red version or the Wolf Grey/Platinum version, the collaboration between Nike and Kanye West will set sneaker enthusiasts of South Africa back by approximately 360 USD (R3000.00).
