First big rap beef of 2013?
Female MC’s Angel Haze and Azealia Banks, who were both featured in our Venus Rising article in the Dec 2012/Jan 2013 issue of The Source, publicly beefed it up via Twitter earlier today, and Angel Haze wasted no time in releasing a diss track aimed at Miss Banks. Compiling the most unflattering photo of Azealia she could find, and what appears to be screenshotted texts from a convo the two had when they were once friends, insinuating that Azealia may have had a little crush on Angel…Interesting, considering Azealia called Angel out for wanting to get sexual with her in her tweets earlier.
Angel claims in her diss track that Missy Elliott was scared to be in the studio with Azealia Banks (remember their Bad Girls Remix with M.I.A.), says that she was trying to be fake with Kreayshawn, and much, much more. “B*tch, I got ammo on you, b*tch you don’t want war,” spits Angel Haze…damn.
Apparently, this “beef” stemmed from Azealia tweeting a general statement about not claiming to be a New Yorker if you weren’t born and raised in NYC, which Angel Haze apparently took personally. Both girls deleted a few of the tweets in question, but you can check out what wasn’t deleted (yet) and screenshots of some that were deleted (thanks to HipHopDx), below.
Welp, there you have it folks…What do you think? Could this possibly be a publicity stunt on both rappers’ parts? MCs in the past have created fake beef to generate a buzz, so that’s always a possibility… but it seems like these two really don’t like each other, for personal reasons.
