The Source – What was your mind set going in to this year’s combine?
Sharrif Floyd – Funny story about it, one week before we were supposed to report I talked to one of the players who was getting ready for the Combine and his Pro Day and I was just telling him there was no need to be nervous. This is something we have been doing since middle school and high school so it’s no different now; it’s just showcasing what you can do. I was more ready to go than anything because it wasn’t anything new that was going to get thrown at me.
The Source – Does performing well at the combine help the big time school player more or the little school player more?
SF – I kind of just look at it like they just want to see if your game film from college matches your work ethic or what you do, what you do matches up the same or is similar. I think it can help a lot of schools that scouts can’t get to because it now shows if I have speed, if I have power. I feel that both types of schools use this combine for different reasons.
The Source – Coming out of high school you were the highest recruit Florida got since Percy Harvin when did you realize “I can get to the NFL I got to become serious about this”?
SF – I was kind of serious about it from the jump. I talked to my strength coach Greg Garrett from high school, before I got to college we already discussed that it was three-year pit stop and we was getting ready to make a leap into the big league. That was already my mindset going in to college it wasn’t to have fun, go out to parties. My main goal was to stay as healthy as I have been, knock on wood. It’s all been planned and to see it all come together is a great thing.
The Source – You probably hear the projections that you’re a top 10 pick maybe even a top 5 pick, do you keep in the back of your mind the fact that can fall so you can be ready for anything?
SF – Yea I’m keeping an open mind about it. Yea I’m projected to go high, but it’s still up to what does the team need and what do they want the most out of a player. So I’m just sitting back I’ve done everything I can do, now it’s just up what does the team want to do.
The Source – Does the hype get to you at all or is it business as usual?
SF – Nah, I just handle my business as usual I don’t let the hype get to me. I try not to get too high or too low I’m kind of right there in the middle, always humble and hungry
