D’Angelo and Questlove-Bonnaroo Superjam/BET Awards 2012
D’Angelo never really had a falling out with any band mate, mostly because he is a solo artist. However, he did feel that he was slowly conforming to everyone else’s image of him…as a purely sex symbol—thanks to his nude “Untitled” video. After his Voodoo world tour, D’Angelo seemingly disappeared from public view, for almost twelve years. Only two albums into his singing career, fans wanted more as they were promised.
Last year, D’Angelo finally broke his silence. He performed at multiple festivals and high profile venues. The first of which was the Bonnaroo Superjam, accompanied by Questlove. He brought down the house, and his taste for the live show returned. D’Angelo had his first televised performance on the BET Awards, where he was easily the highlight of the night. An R&B legend, it was great to see him back on stage, singing his classics.
