Destiny’s Child-Superbowl Halftime 2013
Easily one of the most successful Pop/R&B groups of all time, and definitely one of the biggest musical acts of their time, Destiny’s Child left a huge void when they disbanded in 2006. Their separation wasn’t caused by infighting or jealousy-at least any that they have opened up about to the press—but to allow Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams to pursue their own individual success. While each of their accomplishments kept them in the public eye, they left such a considerable mark on music that fans still longed for their reunion on stage.
At Super Bowl XLVII, Beyonce was set to perform during the halftime. The audience was treated to rare and televised Destiny’s Child reunion. The group performed two of their hits: “Bootylicious” and “Independent Women.” It was a surprising highlight to an already great halftime show.
