The Source Magazine caught up with Consequence at the 2013 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards. He was honored for co-writing Beyonce’s “Party.”

How did you come to work on the track “Party” for Beyonce?
Consequence: It was my record and Kanye had it on his drive and one day I came to the studio and Jay-Z was like “I have a surprise for you” and Beyonce turned on her computer and I was like “Oh, I struck it rich, this is what The Beverly Hillbillies felt like when they saw that oil in the dirt.”
Consequence said that he has been in the studio writing with Ne-Yo, Teyana Taylor and working on his own record “Start Your Own Business,” which will be out early next year.
